Back by popular demand!  After their spectacular performances in 2012 and 2013, the students of the Music Theater Division of the Catholic University of America Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, one of the top three music theater programs in the U.S., are coming back to present another  showcase featuring Broadway hits. Dossevi-Weiner Family Bulgarian Folk Music Concert

Co-presentation of the Washington Revels, the Bulgarian Music Society and the Bulgarian Community Center

In preparation for its 31st annual Christmas Revels: “Echoes of Thrace: Music, Dance and Drama of Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey,” the Washington Revels is proud to partner with the Bulgarian Music Society to present in concert two great folk artists from Bulgaria: celebrated Thracian singer Tanya Dosseva and master kaval player Lyuben Dossev. They will be joined by their daughter, Tzvety Weiner, lead singer of the local Bulgarian band Lyuti Chushki, drummer Bryndyn Weiner (Tzvety’s husband) and friends. This performance is particularly special because the two generations of musicians will perform side by side for the first time ever!

This concert will explore the fascination of the 19th century composers with the wild freedom, passion and uniqueness of the Gypsy culture.  Come and hear some of the most beloved masterpieces of Johannes Brahms and Antonin Dvorak.
