Folklore Fiesta: Gerdan

Dr. Andrei Pidkivka, Dr. Solomia Gorokhivska and Dr. Jeni Maneva

Meet Gerdan (www.gerdan.info), one of the most original professional ensembles in the Washington DC area, which will present a program featuring contrasting musical styles (folk, classical, jazz, tango) in the traditions of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. This will be an exhilarating concert of traditional songs and tunes getting vivacious original arrangements in fascinating combination of voice and acoustic instruments violin, piano and exotic ethnic flutes.

Polaris Piano Trio

Laura Kobayashi (violin), Kenneth Law (cello), Francesca Hurst (piano)

One of the Washington DC’s best chamber ensembles will present a program featuring works by Haydn, Beethoven and Baker. The members of the Polaris Piano Trio (www.polarispianotrio.com) have performed in the National Gallery of Art, Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Gindi Auditorium in Los Angeles as well as in Europe, South America, Panama, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Trinidad, South Africa and Thailand.

A special treat for piano music lovers. This solo piano recital features one of the most successful Bulgarian classical pianists today. Ms. Adzharova will perform works by Mozart, Chopin, Shostakovich and Vladigerov.

Young Musical Stars Showcase: 

Prizewinners of the Young Musicians Inspiring Change (YMIC) International Competition   

A showcase featuring some of the most talented young musicians in the Washington DC area who are prizewinners of national and regional music competitions. The program will include works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninov, Lalo, Saint-Saens and other classical composers. This is a co-presentation by the Bulgarian Music Society and the Young Musicians Inspiring Change organization (www.ymicus.org).
