The Bulgarian Music Society of Washington was founded in August 2009 through a grant from the St. George Foundation to present Bulgarian musical culture to Washington area audiences. The Society organizes music events throughout the year and presents free concert series featuring Bulgarian and international performers. The series was inaugurated on September 10, 2009, with performances by the vocal group “Orfeia,” American soprano Sharon Christman, bassoonist Dilyana Kirova, and pianists Dr. Ralitza Patcheva and Dr. Ivo Kaltchev. The series is held at the Bulgarian Embassy and other venues in the Washington area.
The Bulgarian Music Society is committed to providing free concerts to the public and relies on private donations for support. If you would like to donate and support our mission of keeping the Bulgarian music traditions alive, please visit our donation page.
